MISSION STATEMENT
The International Big Band Jazz Cafe Society is a 501 (C) 3 non profit organization whose primary function is to preserve this GREAT American Art Form. Founded in February, 1997 our mission is to establish multi-faceted educational and entertainment complexes throughout the United States.
In 1985, Congress declared that jazz was a legitimate American Art Form and a rare and national treasure. The Society will demonstrate to younger generations the importance of a musical education. Music is a very important part of self-discovery and self-expression. Therefore, instruction in music must be viewed as central to a complete education - not only because of its intrinsic worth, but also because it is fundamental to what it means to be an educated person.
The Society will provide an innovative music education program which will offer young musicians training by some of the worlds top jazz artists. By day, middle to high school students will attend a series of master classes, workshops and seminars taught by major jazz performers. By night, the teachers will take the stage themselves. Scholarships will also be established.
The Big Band Jazz Cafe Museum will provide a physical home to an honor roll of outstanding bandleaders and musicians, one replete with music and memorabilia which reflect the originality of the genre for all invited guests to experience the greatness of jazz. The Society will also coincide with the National Drum Association in establishing a “DRUMMERS HALL OF FAME”, which will pay tribute to the founding fathers of modern drumming.
We seek the support of the
entire musical community by providing artifacts and memorabilia, as well as tax
deductible contributions. For membership and information contact:
